L.A. County Half Marathon Resident Information

Dear Neighbor,

We invite you to join in the celebration of the LA County Half Marathon as it comes to the cities of Pomona, San Dimas and La Verne, Sunday, December 12, 2010!  Festivities begin on Saturday, December 11th as the Half Marathon Expo opens at Fairplex, 9am-6pm and the Free Kids 1 mile fun run takes place.  The Expo will continue on Sunday, December 12th from 6am-12pm.  Admission to the Expo is free to the public!

Additionally, we would like to provide you information as to how the LA County Half Marathon and related events may be impacting your area on Sunday, December 12th.

Saturday, December 11th
Health & Fitness Expo and Registration   9am – 6pm

Free Kids 1 Mile Fun Run

Sunday, December 12th, Race Day
 6am-12pm – Health & Fitness Expo
 6am-9am – Registration
 7am – Bike Tour
 8am – Half Marathon
 8am – Mt. Sac Heritage Hall 5K
 

Please note that the Half Marathon operates as an out-and-back course, so streets will be re-opened for traffic as the last athletes pass an area.  Please also note that these are approximate times of street re-openings, times may vary by about 30 minutes.  Police officers will monitor all major intersections to allow cars to cross the course once there is a break in the race.  Please allow extra time for travel because of the street closures and potential traffic delays.

Events

The start and finish for all events will be at Fairplex on the LA County Fairgrounds. The Half Marathon course will run through Bonelli Regional Park around Puddingstone Lake. The 5K Run and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run will run through Fairplex property.

Post-race review of the Inaugural LA County Half Marathon

The Inaugural LA County Half Marathon is now over and was considered by all in attendance as a HUGE success.  Mother Nature couldn't have been more generous to the runners, giving them blue skies, colorful autumn leaves, clean air, and views of the beautiful snow-capped LA Mountains.  The Half Marathon course that started and finished at Fairplex and traveled through La Verne, San Dimas, and Bonelli Park was given 2-thumbs-up by the multitude of runners that came up to us after the race.  Our congratulations go out to the winners of the Half Marathon, Carlos Handler (1:10:13) and Carly Harris (1:17:38) and to the winners of the Mt. Sac Heritage Hall 5K, Mark Moreno (15:33) and Alicia Jessop (18:14).  See complete results by going to "Race Results" under the "Race Information" tab above.  We would also like to thank and congratulate everyone that came out to support this inaugural event.  We look forward to being back in 2010!
